I am now having some problems pushing it to GitHub but I know some people have done it successfully. It's probably a good idea to put your code on GitHub or BitBucket.
Using Transmit, I open the code file from the Pi for editing in Sublime. Whenever I hit save in Sublime, Transmit pushes the code to the Pi. It makes it really easy to program it. You could probably use many different text editors and SFTP clients in this way. When I have my code in good shape, then I'll make a commit and push to GitHub.
